Less is more is the motto of this project! My client is a painter who works with color every day in her studio. She wanted her new home to allow her to rest her eyes from the rave of color.
I used pure white for all the walls softening it by honey brown floors. Furniture upholstery was carefully chosen from natural materials of neutral sandy and warm grey tones, linen curtains add to the picture. I used the play of light and shadow to create an ornament on the living room wall. Wooden baldaquin above the bed reminds one of an old tree that offers the shadow of its crown on a warm summer day.
The only colorful spot of the apartment is the tapestry brought by my client from Paris. She says that she saw it in the window and realised she simply could not leave the city without it. We decided to put in the corridor across the entrance door and the mirror for it to greet her every time she comes home. Being placed in front of a mirror it also creates an impression of walking through a magical forest every time one walks through the corridor.
Upon my client’s own words her favourite spot is the Womb chair by Knoll in the living room where she likes to curl up after a long day to read a book or watch a movie. Or simply admire the ornament on the wall)
