About the project

Apartment in the historical center of Moscow

The owner of this space is a man who is passionately in love with Moscow. He has lived here his entire life and one of his hobbies is studying Moscow’s history. Since the apartment is right in the historical center of Moscow, we wanted to tell a story through our interior: a home for a family that has been living here for generations. Some items relate to the pre-revolutionary past, others could have been acquired during the Soviet era, the rest are contemporary.
I have decided to leave the wooden floors and the chandelier that was left by the previous owner as a token to the history of the space.

Since the apartment is only 45 sqm it was crucial to use the space very efficiently, avoiding, however, crumbling it with unnecessary furniture and different colors. I chose a single color for the whole apartment to make it look bigger than it is, and used the same color for the furniture. The common space is a long and quite narrow room and needed some visual correction: using different lights I divided it into three zones (kitchen, dining and living). There is no TV in the living area, a huge round mirror reflects natural light from the windows instead.

My client had a very specific request: I was to find a fringed hanging light just like his grandma had at her place. Honestly, there is almost nothing impossible for a designer who truly loves her job)
