A Scandinavian style townhouse for a family with three kids in Moscow region to send the summer and holidays. The entrance should be ample and have enough storage to accommodate all the family’s clothes. As the owners also plan to spend the winter holidays in their new home there should be open racks to dry the coats after snowball fights and long strolls in the nearby forest. Getting three kids ready to go outside isn’t easy and the entrance hall should have enough seating space for all three to put their shoes on.
Entrance hall shares the color scheme of the entire house: warm oak texture softens the snow white walls. The ground floor of the townhouse is a long rectangular space with a staircase in the middle — right next to the dining area. In order to open up the staircase I opted for wooden beams to let the light in.
Dining area is painted in a grey color including the ceiling to accentuate this zone. Kitchen in this project is everything a family that likes to cook can ask for: a large basin in front of the window, a lot of cooking surface and ample storage. All the kitchen equipment (electric stove, built-in fridge, oven, microwave and dish washer) is located on the left side of the sink, leaving the space on the right side free for culinary experiments.
Living room is designed to accommodate big house parties and enjoys a direct exit to the patio. Guest bathroom is located on the ground floor under the staircase and is quite small. In order to make the space look bigger I hung a big mirror in a wooden frame along the entire wall.
First floor hall is quite small and minimalistic: wall colors change from grey to white at exactly the first floor level, three pendant lights topping the staircase are the only decoration.
Master bedroom enjoys the highest ceiling in the house which made it possible to set up a home office in the mezzanine (which is located above the master bathroom). The mezzanine level is also a wall color divider: the upper part of the room including the ceiling is painted in warm grey adding a more enclosed and cozy feeling to the whole room.
Master Bathroom is decorated using the same techniques as the rest of the house: off-white wall tiles combined with warm grey paint color adding a pinch of green with house plants. Kids bathroom has a bath instead of a shower as there is a baby in the family. Style is the same as the rest of the house with some more fun accessories.
