About the project

Zilart Apartments

When my new client described her dream apartment featuring high ceilings, lots of natural light and a reserved color scheme with occasional accents (which absolutely HAD to be some shade of red) I instantly thought of Paris. I remembered the Quartier Latin with endless bouqinistes along the Seine selling black and white postcards to tourists.

When I finally saw the space with gorgeous French windows it all fell into place. I decided that the project definitely had to have a delicate French touch. I didn't want to directly recreate any of the Parisian apartments but instead give this space a unique feeling: as if you are sitting in one of the street cafés wearing a light trench coat, people watching while having your first coffee of the day…

I decided to keep these wonderful windows open and to use blinds instead of conventional curtains accentuating them by casing and contrast color. The couch is dividing the living area from the dining area accompanied by elegant and expressly modern lighting.

The entrance area is open to the living room and is only defined by Mettlach tile rug using the same color scheme as the rest of the space. In a relatively small bathroom I chose elegant light grey stone tile for the entire space, only accent being a large pedestal in light oak to add a homey feeling to the room. A large mirror along the entire wall visually doubles the space and suspended minimalistic lights add a boudoir touch.

Master bedroom is also painted in lighter shade of grey, brass details adding a more refined look to the space. I turned the balcony of this apartment into a cozy winter garden using the signature grey colors of the project accentuated by deep red.

A walk-in closet is to die for!) I placed deeper cabinets with hangers along a longer wall and smaller cabinets for shoes and bags on the opposite side. A huge window allows a lot of natural light in. Everything a girl can dream of! As any proper boudoir this walk-in closet has a secret: I used a mirror door with concealed casing to access the laundry room. This interior is for slow and happy living.
